You may submit Income Tax Garnishment writ requests to participating Michigan courts.

Who can submit? Under penalty of law, you must be authorized to represent the plaintiff.
What does GarnIT produce? For each batch of requests, it produces Treasury and defendant PDFs containing MC52's - Request and Writ for Garnishment. It also provides payment confirmation.
How is the input data provided? You can choose to enter writ requests using normal data entry, or through a specially-formatted batch input file.
What are the options for paying the filing fee for this service? Payment can be made by Credit Card or eCheck (e.g., for large sums), but for eCheck you must first be preauthorized by the court.
What to do when GarnIT rejects your case/data? Verify the values you provided exactly match the plaintiff's copy of the complaint and judgment. The best option to do this is to use GarnIT's 'Pull Case Data' feature. If you believe the data in the court's case management system is incorrect, send an email to the court explaining the problem (include the GarnIT submission number and any error message) and what data may need correcting. Attach a scanned copy of the plaintiff's judgment/complaint as proof as directed below. Please see following to handle specific errors:
- For Errors with Judgment not on file (002), 21 days have not elapsed since judgment (003), Judgment amount is zero (007), Invalid plaintiff attorney bar number (011), and Invalid judgment amount (012), send both the complaint and the judgment.
- Bankruptcy stay has been filed (004): Follow the order of the bankruptcy court. If the bankruptcy order is no longer in effect, provide the court with a copy of the notice as proof.
- Defendant / Plaintiff name or address is invalid or incomplete (006/010/013-016): Check the plaintiff's copy of the complaint against the plaintiff's copy of the judgment and, if filing bulk with GarnIT, with the upload file. Also, if names or addresses have been legally changed since the judgment was entered, before a garnishment can be issued the plaintiff must file a notice with the court asking for the case to be updated.
- Stale judgment (008): If the judgment has not been renewed by filing an affidavit or a motion or complaint for renewal with the court before the judgment expired, garnishment is not available. If, however, the plaintiff has been actively collecting on the judgment, the plaintiff must go to the court with proof of payments collected on the judgment within 10 years of the judgment date.
What if I received payment confirmation from GarnIT, but no MC52 PDF? In this rare scenario, first attempt to retrieve the MC52 PDF by using the 'Paid Submission' link. If you are unable or GarnIT will not reissue the PDFs, visit or email the court and provide a copy of the payment receipt email sent by CEPAS, a copy of the successful writ request email sent by GarnIT, a manually completed MC52, and an explanation of the problem encountered.

Batch input files must be TXT, and specially-formatted as described below. Every line in the file must be exactly 184 characters in length.

All values:

Must be capitalized (e.g., JONES not Jones)
Must be left-justified, except amount fields are right-justified
Are required unless an exception is noted below
